Air Traffic Control Simulation
Raytheon's FIRSTplus Air Traffic Control Simulator has become synonymous with excellence in airport and air traffic control simulation and has been deployed at some of the world's largest ATC training institutions. Civilian and military customers turn to FIRSTplus because of the sophisticated level of simulation and high degree of realism that it offers.
The image shows the Vancouver International Airport looking Northeast from the tarmac of the domestic terminal and the inset shows the view from directly above the airborne 747. This is an example of the type of visual model used for tower ATC training and the high quality images that FIRSTplus customers have come to expect. The realism of the graphics and the flexibility of the system allows FIRSTplus to go far beyond a training tool, to uses such as airport and air traffic planning.
Ground and aerial photographs, DXF files and satellite imagery, in conjunction with Multigen's Creator, were used to build the database. Satellite imagery was provided courtesy of Digital Globe, RadarSat International is also an exclusive supplier of QuickBird data. Creator's modify UV tool was very useful because it enable the textures to be edited after they was applied. This database is used with Multigen's Vega run-time products, on Windows or Unix based platforms.
