This scene is from the Los Angeles International Airport
database, developed by Adacel Inc. and used by NASA Ames
FutureFlight Central and the Los Angeles World Airports to
conduct studies into runway incursions.
Due to the importance of the requirements of NASA Ames
FutureFlight Central, a national ATC/ATM test facility - up to
120 aircraft movements per hour and the most realistic
environment possible, the database had to be highly
polygonally optimized which was achieved by using high
definition textures and perspective texture mapping in
MultiGen Creator. The database is run on a SGI Onyx 2
Reality monster configured with six graphic engines and 16
processors.
Due to the high realism of the airport environment
delivered by Adacel, the LAX controllers who used the
simulator were able to walk in and immediately be immersed in
the virtual world increasing productivity, efficiency and
overall success of the exercise. More information can be found
