This scene is part of an interactive simulation of the newly proposed Sheaf Square development that was created by Antycip for Sheffield City Council Transportation and Planning Department. The application was used primarily as a consultation tool for the local public and interested parties in the local areas.
The database was developed in Creator using 2D CAD data of the local station area, drawings and plans from EDAW, a landscape architecture firm and photo texture data collected from site visits. The Vega API was used to generate moving objects and navigate through the proposed development. The application runs on a standard graphics PC workstation running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, using a joystick as the motion control device.
Sheffield City Council Transportation and Planning Department understands the considerable benefits associated with the use of realtime 3D technologies and is discussing extension of this database for additional and ongoing transportation related challenges.
