High Speed, High Fidelity NASCAR Racing Excitement
"NASCAR HEAT" is a NASCAR racing simulation that features door-to-door
racing at white-knuckle speeds. NASCAR HEAT, developed by Monster
Games and published by Hasbro Interactive, is realistically based
on the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Season.
MultiGen Creator is the primary development tool that Monster Games
used for producing the "worlds" of NASCAR HEAT. Textures were created
in Photoshop and 3D Studio Max was used for occasional animation
needs. Practically all modeling, texturing, and level-of-detail
generation tasks were done in MultiGen Creator Pro. Creator Pro
with its Road Tools Option allowed us to model and texture these
real-world locations quickly, accurately, and in such a way that
it was efficient enough to run at 60 fps on today's cutting edge
machines.
The artists on this project came from architectural backgrounds
and had used animation-based tools at their old jobs. The team found
MultiGen Creator to be quite easy to learn, and took advantage of
the speed of modeling, quick yet accurate texturing tools, and easy
LOD creation.
