Teaching drivers of all ages safety and skill while operating a motor vehicle.
The Raydon Corporation developed the Raydon Virtual Driver (RVD) database and the new highway database to teach drivers of all ages to be competent and safe while operating a motor vehicle. The RVD databases are being used in high schools and driving schools, as well as military bases.
The main and lower left image are from a highway section recently added to the RVD database. The entire database has two representations, a winter version (large image) and a summer version (lower left). The bottom center image is from the city section of the database at night in rain, showing one of the many weather conditions that can be simulated. The lower right image portrays image intensification or night vision goggle (NVG) simulation used in homeland defense and military applications. The RVD database is delivered on a PC-based image generator using Raydon's BARE visual API.
Creator Road Tools was used to generate the roads for the city sections of the database as well as the roads in the new highway sections of the database. All of the models used in the RVD system were developed using MultiGen Creator including large vehicles like tractor-trailers, backhoes, and garbage trucks designed to enhance the realism of the driving experience.
