Mission Functions

FlightIG provides a variety of intersection tests (isectors) to support mission functions like radar altimetry, laser ranging, and collision detection. All isectors return results to the host within two frames, and operate only on the memory-resident portion of the database. Isectors can detect intersections with any combination of database objects (e.g., terrain, features, clouds).

You can view the mission functions below.

The following intersection processes are provided:
Line of Sight (LOS)   The LOS isector returns the range along any line of sight, and can additionally return the object type and material type at the intersection.
Ownship Collision Detection (OCD)   The OCD isector allows user-defined vectors to specify edges of the aircraft used for detection collisions with hard objects in the scene.
Height Above Terrain (HAT)   The HAT isector returns the distance of a specified point above the terrain (or other selectable object class) directly below it. This isector is commonly used for simulation of radar altimetry and for detecting landing gear height for touchdown detection. Three HAT isectors are commonly used in support of the aircraft ground reaction model during takeoff and landing.
