MultiGen-Paradigm Announces Database Environment for Creation and Optimization of Synthetic Worlds

ORLANDO, Fla. - November 29, 19993 - MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. today announced at I/ITSEC in Orlando the newest advancement for the visual simulation community. Professional Database Environment (PDE™) is a comprehensive project and process management system for the production process of synthetic worlds. The introduction of this product enhances the company's product offering for visual database production.

PDE complements MultiGen-Paradigm's existing products Vega™, SmartScene and MultiGen Creator by reducing database production life-cycle costs through the provision of an integrated project management tool equipped with a process manager. The functionality of the PDE provides seamless integration for industry standard tools (MultiGen Creator, Vega and other popular applications) and data formats (OpenFlight™ and SEDRIS) resulting in the capability to use all the resources to the fullest extent possible.

MultiGen-Paradigm designed PDE as an intuitive system promoting rapid automated database generation for visual simulation applications. With PDE's easy-to-use interface and robust API, development teams can capture unique development processes, manage visual database assets and share resources through a multi-processing, multi-user environment, increasing project productivity and reducing life cycle costs. PDE encompasses tools that manage data and process flow for all phases of production, an open architecture to leverage existing tools, and a method to publish optimized synthetic environments automatically.

"With PDE, MultiGen-Paradigm has streamlined database development," said Dave Rolston, president and CEO, MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. "Our customers will be able to unify the production process into a single tool set while maintaining legacy applications. PDE's architecture, combined with seamless data integration, and backed by MultiGen-Paradigm's dedication to customer satisfaction, will establish this new product as an immediate success."

MultiGen-Paradigm's history and vast experience in building large area databases for key customers furnishes a solid foundation for this new product, as does the company's working knowledge of customer needs, and the heritage of delivering optimized data structures for multiple target platforms.

PDE's flexibility and extendibility enables integration of any commercially or internally developed software, however the need for creation and viewing tools such as MultiGen Creator and Vega remain.

"PDE's component-oriented design will allow MultiGen-Paradigm to deliver quarterly updates with enhancements for the product to our customers," said Michelle Fitch, PDE product manager, MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. "We are dedicated to establishing the PDE tool set as the standard production methodology in the visual simulation community."

MultiGen-Paradigm is targeting customers handling large data sets, requiring high reusability, production of correlated databases for multiple platforms hoping to reduce database production and lifecycle costs. The company expects to ship PDE during the second quarter of 2000.
