FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Integrated Solution Provides Breakthrough in Capabilities and Price/Performance for Visual Simulation and Training Applications ORLANDO, Fla. — November 26, 2001 — Quantum3D, Inc. announced today at I/ITSEC that MultiGen-Paradigm's new Vega Prime software toolkit for realtime 3D application development is optimized on the Quantum3D family of PC-based Image Generators (PC-IGs). These include AAlchemy and Obsidian® nV - the industry's leading precision multi-channel synchronized PC-IGs with nVSensor hardware accelerated sensor post processing capabilities. The relationship between Quantum3D and MultiGen-Paradigm provides visual simulation and training (VST) customers with a combined solution that delivers new levels of functionality and performance at price points previously unreachable with proprietary solutions. The new integrated solutions are on display in the MultiGen-Paradigm booth (No 752) at I/ITSEC. Vega Prime is MultiGen-Paradigm's latest generation of the premier software environment for the creation and deployment of realtime visual simulation, sensor, virtual reality, and general visualization applications. Vega Prime is based on Vega Scene Graph (VSG), MultiGen-Paradigm's advanced-cross platform scene graph API, which includes new capabilities and optimizations that provide Vega Prime with better performance and functionality on a broad range of platforms. With its "class" based design, Vega Prime will enable MultiGen-Paradigm to provide optimized support for unique capabilities within each class of system platform. On AAlchemy, key optimizations will include enhanced display list support for terrain and cultural features, along with special effects. In addition, Vega Prime will support AAlchemy capabilities such as SwapLock, fade level of detail, FXT1 texture compression and performance trilinear filtering. On Obsidian nV, Vega Prime supports nVSync synchronization, as well as pixel and vertex shaders that are enabled by the Obsidian nV's NVIDIAâ GPU-based graphics architecture. On both AAlchemy and Obsidian nV, Vega Prime's support of the nVSensor API enables military customers to take advantage of MultiGen-Paradigm's industry leading InfraRed (IR) and night vision goggles (NVG) sensor capabilities without impacting performance. "Vega Prime's new architecture will for the first time allow hardware vendors the opportunity to truly differentiate themselves from their competitors," said Chris Hawkins, vice president of sales and marketing for MultiGen-Paradigm. "By enabling specific functionality to be performed at the hardware level rather than through software, Quantum3D enhances the overall performance of the application, which benefits the end user and the visual simulation industry." "The Vega product line is one of the most popular COTS and widely used software environments for the creation and deployment of realtime 3D applications in the visual simulation industry," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and vice president of sales and marketing. "Vega Prime coupled with Quantum3D PC-IG platforms delivers an exceptional solution that we believe will dramatically increase the use of PC-IGs into what was previously the domain of high-end, high-priced solutions. Quantum3D is extremely pleased to continue our collaboration with MultiGen-Paradigm and to now have Vega Prime and VSG available on our advanced systems." Quantum3D PC-IG Platforms Announced in September 2001 at DSEi, the Obsidian nV is Quantum3D's mid-range system that features advanced simulation capabilities pioneered by Quantum3D on PC-based systems, including nVSensor and nVSync precision multi-channel synchronization. Powered by the Quantum3D Obsidian3 graphics subsystem, based on the NVIDIA QuadroDCC GPU, the Obsidian nV leverages the unparalleled polygon performance, industry leading OpenGL® 1.3 and DirectX 8 performance and compatibility and unique shader capabilities of the NVIDIA nFinite architecture to provide the most powerful mid-range PC-IG in the market today. Obsidian nV is also the first dual-processor PC-IG available in a 1U (1.75 in.), low-profile form factor for simplified rack or stack integration into synthetic environment training applications with rack space restrictions.
