MultiGen-Paradigm Announces New Corporate Strategy to Meet Changing
Requirements of Visual Simulation Industry

Newly Integrated Product Portfolio Responds to Increasing Demand for
Greater Extensibility and Improved Performance

Orlando, Fla.-November 26, 2001 - Today at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference (I/ITSEC), MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc., the leading provider of realtime 3D software solutions, announced its new corporate strategy to deliver a tightly integrated, end-to-end product and service portfolio that will provide users with more cost-effective, realtime 3D visual simulation solutions that feature increased functionality and flexibility.

Responding to growing customer and industry expectations for improved reusability, predictability, scalability and extensibility, MultiGen-Paradigm has reinvented its approach to anticipating and fulfilling users' needs by revolutionizing its product offering to provide its customers with the most comprehensive set of database and runtime tools with greater versatility and performance.

"In the past, visual simulation was generally restricted to markets such as military or commercial aviation, and solutions were largely proprietary or ad hoc, specialized to the particular strengths of a limited number of high-end platforms," said Sandeep Divekar, president, MultiGen-Paradigm. "With the broadening appeal of 3D visualization to diverse markets like urban planning and architectural design, and the proliferation of low cost, high performance PCs, MultiGen-Paradigm is delivering integrated solutions that offer greater flexibility across multiple platforms."

In association with its new corporate strategy, MultiGen-Paradigm made three additional announcements at I/ITSEC, including the introduction of two products: Creator Terrain Studio™ and Vega Prime™. Also introduced today is MetaFlight™, which describes the content and structure of a visual database with a more highly organized form of the industry standard OpenFlight file format. For additional information, see separate announcements: "MultiGen-Paradigm Announces Creator Terrain Studio", "MultiGen-Paradigm Announces Vega Prime", and "MultiGen-Paradigm Announces New Visual Database Schema To Facilitate Better Communication Between Database Generation And Runtime Systems."

Creator Terrain Studio allows users to streamline their visual simulation operations while providing numerous tools for building simple to complex databases. Its project management system captures all workflow steps and catalogs meta-data about dataset and processes based on MultiGen-Paradigm's MetaFlight schema. Users will find that using Creator Terrain Studio will save significant time because of its ability to reuse datasets, including the raw source data, intermediate data and published output data.

With the introduction of Vega Prime, MultiGen-Paradigm will enable users to consider hardware as a truly independent variable for the first time. Users can now develop a visual simulation application on a wide variety of platforms, and then deploy it on the platform that offers the best value for a given set of project requirements. Vega Prime's new architecture will also allow hardware vendors the opportunity to truly differentiate themselves from their competitors by enabling specific functionality to be performed at the hardware level rather than through software.

The new visual database schema, MetaFlight, describes the organization and structure of visual database parameters and datasets and transmits this information to runtime systems in a machine-readable format. MetaFlight ensures more efficient scene transmission to Vega Prime and other runtime systems to facilitate smarter loading and realtime database management.

"MultiGen-Paradigm is addressing fundamental changes in the visual simulation industry that are demanding realtime 3D software solutions be more powerful and feature-rich than ever before while offering the flexibility of true cross-platform extensibility and performance," said Divekar. "This announcement represents a corporate strategy that sharpens our focus on our core markets, while broadening our ability to address the needs of an increasingly diverse visual simulation marketplace."
