MULTIGEN-PARADIGM ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF VEGA PRIME v1.1

Enhanced functionality provides users with increased flexibility and realism

San Jose, Calif. - October 23, 2002 - MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc., the leading provider of realtime 3D software solutions, announced today that Vega Prime™ v1.1 for Microsoft Windows and Sun Microsystems Solaris™ Operating Environment is now available and shipping to customers. Vega Prime is an extendible, cross-platform, C++ development environment that includes MultiGen-Paradigm's advanced low-level scene graph VSG (Vega Scene Graph), as well as a high level abstraction API, delivering a range of scalable and customizable features for visual simulation, sensor simulation, simulation based training, and urban simulation

The functionality delivered with Vega Prime v1.1 includes support for virtual textures, an efficient means for dynamically storing and paging imagery, which allows users to efficiently use large imagery sets within their Vega Prime applications. In addition, this latest release delivers support for many of the most popular input devices through integration of Trackd by VRCO, environmental effects for increased realism, functionality to facilitate the creation of custom user-defined module panels in LynX Prime, and fast-loading binary file creation and encryption for more efficient loading and safer distribution of applications.

"We worked extensively with the Vega Prime API while building our plug-in which includes a new scene graph node type. The API is easy to absorb and very nice to work with due to its consistent design, its modern "no-compromises" C++ and its extensive use of design patterns and object-oriented constructs." said Mattias Widmark, product manager - Blueberry3D Development Team, STVRS. "We found the Vega Prime API to be extremely flexible and in just a couple of days we had our scene graph node up and running"

"Vega Prime can run across Sun Microsystems' entire line of graphics systems -- from personal solutions to large workgroup visualization systems," says Steve Campbell, Sun Microsystems' Vice President of Enterprise Systems Products. "The combination of our Solaris Operating Environment and this high-performance API will enable military, government and commercial simulation customers to develop applications utilizing Sun's robust platforms, which deliver scalable 3D graphics with leading-edge quality. Users will also benefit from Sun's price/performance levels, allowing for affordable deployments in larger volumes."

"The additional features provided in the 1.1 release of Vega Prime greatly enhance our customer's and partner's ability to create realistic and functional integrated Vega Prime modules," said Christian Cole, Vega Prime product manager for MultiGen-Paradigm. "The addition of the Solaris OE to the list of Vega Prime's supported platforms provides our user base with the ability to deploy on Sun's operating systems which provides our user base with the opportunity to take advantage of the features in, and deploy on Sun's hardware."

Pricing and Availability
Vega Prime 1.1 is currently available for Windows and Solaris OE users only, however, because of the single source architecture of Vega Prime, applications and code written in the Windows and Solaris OE version will be immediately usable and viable for the Linux and SGI® Irix® platforms once released.
