Announces Data Conversion Contract with Defense Modeling and Simulation Office SAN JOSE, Calif. - August 16, 19993 -MultiGen-Paradigm Inc. today announced the award of a new contract by the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) for conversion of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) database. MultiGen-Paradigm will develop bi-directional mappings for the JSF database to their representation in SEDRIS Transmittal Format (STF) and vice versa. In addition, the company will develop the conversion software that transforms the database to STF, and then will perform the conversion. The database will be converted back to its native OpenFlightñ format as a round trip' to verify that the conversion was valid. SEDRIS was developed by DMSO to enable high-end databases to be shared between simulators with different types of image generators, each of which have their own distinctive native formats. STF is an intermediate format into which databases can be exported, allowing the data to be imported to a different format for use on another simulator. By having one common format, the total number of different software conversions among various formats is minimized. As a complex database, which supports out-the-window, infrared and radar simulations, JSF is an excellent test case to test the robustness of STF. Currently, the JSF database is used by the United States Navy and Air Force for requirements development of aircraft, and by competing prime contractors, Lockheed Martin and Boeing Defense Systems, for running experiments to validate their designs. "This contract marks a significant development for MultiGen-Paradigm and our industry because this database will now be available on multiple platforms," said Stephen Gersuk, vice president for visual simulation programs, MultiGen-Paradigm. "MultiGen-Paradigm customers will benefit from this development as the conversion utilities will be integrated in a future release of our commercial database development tools," added Dan Brockway, director of database services, MultiGen-Paradigm.
