MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. Announces Image Generator Contract with Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems

SAN JOSE, Calif. – July 26, 1999 – MultiGen-Paradigm Inc., the leader in real-time 3D software and modeling tools, today announced the sale of an Image Generator to Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems (LMTAS) based in Fort Worth, Texas.

The IG will support engineering simulation at LMTAS, and is capable of driving two simulators, each having either a dome or a flat-panel display, simultaneously. Additionally, the IG will render high-resolution, full color targets using calligraphic projectors for the flat-panel displays.

"This award reflects our continuing success in offering turn-key visual systems, a primary business thrust since the MultiGen-Paradigm merger. We’re especially pleased to receive this contract from one of our oldest, largest and most sophisticated customers," said Stephen Gersuk, vice president for visual simulation programs, MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc.

MultiGen-Paradigm was awarded this contract before the delivery of another eight-pipe image generator to LMTAS in May. The second image generator, to be delivered later this year, will be identical to the first system and will drive a 360 degree field-of-view, rear-screen projection display equipped with raster and calligraphic projectors.

This contract precedes the delivery of the first eight pipe image generator that MultiGen-Paradigm delivered to LMTAS in May. The second image generator, to be delivered later this year, will be identical to the first system and will drive a 360 degree field-of-view, rear-screen projection display equipped with raster and calligraphic projectors.

"The combination of raster and calligraphic projection in this display device, along with a high performance image generator, will provide a high quality visual scene over the entire 360 degrees, and will present aircraft aspect changes that can be observed at realistic ranges," said Chris Henderson, manager of real-time services, MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. "The technique is both less expensive and technically superior to other methods for target projection."
