MULTIGEN-PARADIGM ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF MULTIGEN CREATOR V2.6

International Training Education Conference - London, England - 29 April, 2003 - MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc., a leading provider of realtime 3D visual simulation software solutions, announced that Creator v2.6 is now available and shipping to customers. Creator is a comprehensive toolset for the rapid generation of optimized object models, high fidelity terrain and synthetic environments for use in realtime 3D visual simulation, simulation based training, and urban simulation.

The functionality delivered with Creator v2.6 is in direct response to customer feedback and includes many new easy-to-use modeling, texturing, documenting, and selecting tools that are designed to improve workflow, productivity, and visual quality.

Rapid Process Modeling (or RPM) Tools in Creator v2.6 increase productivity through its output-oriented design and wizard-based interfaces. Rather than users still resorting to 'atomic' level modeling of making typical or geo-specific buildings and trees for realtime display, the RPM tools offer a coached, quick process to produce fast and effective models. The Building Wizard tool in particular makes roof generation both automatic and accurate, all based from a single footprint either hand modeled or derived from a GIS solution.

Texture Power Tools offer a combination of artist-inspired ease-of-use with the technical requirements of realtime 3D for efficient texture use and management. The Texture Composer tool pushes 3D texture mapping "back to the 2D canvas". It extracts an image unwrapped from the exact user-selected projections from the 3D model. That image can then be used as a texture template that is automatically correlated to the model, quickly eliminating the tedious effort of mitigating shearing and other undesired texturing anomalies.

Plus Tools offer faster and automatically textured generation of primitive shapes, for rapid from-scratch modeling. The Wall Plus tool is especially useful in making fast, customized, organic shapes. Using Wall Plus, users can make complex shapes quickly, and defined from a custom profile that is easily edited.

Along with version 2.6 of MultiGen Creator, this release represents advancement for the industry through a new revision of the industry standard OpenFlight file format. The widely adopted OpenFlight file format, with version 15.8, contains several new capabilities that further extend the types of attribution, data, and effects to fulfill or exceed industry requirements.

One of the most significant new benefits is the inclusion of Light Point System records attributed through a new palette and node type. The Light Point System advancements allow customers modeling airports and similar datasets to migrate at their own pace to attributes that are read automatically into Vega Prime applications. This easy migration is made possible by the support of OpenFlight 15.8 for both the previous light point and string attribution scheme in OpenFlight v15.7 and earlier, as well as the new integrated Vega Prime style.

With the new revision of OpenFlight 15.8 as the native output of Creator, MultiGen-Paradigm continues to expand the capabilities of the widely adopted realtime 3D data format to meet customer and industry requirements. Another key component of the new OpenFlight v15.8 is the introduction of vertex alpha. Transparencies in entities and models are now available as a function of a geometry attribute, rather than only through materials and textures with alpha channels. Users have access through the OpenFlight API to take advantage of vertex alpha and the other new benefits programmatically. The open nature of the file format means that the industry can take advantage of these benefits immediately, and for little cost.

"MultiGen-Paradigm continues to listen to its users, and is confident that the MultiGen Creator v2.6 Product Series goes a long way to meeting their needs," said Todd Griffith, MultiGen Creator product manager at MultiGen-Paradigm. "In addition, MultiGen-Paradigm is committed to furthering and enhancing the OpenFlight file format and the API to respond and anticipate customer and industry requirements and goals. The format specification will always be open, and freely available for download from our corporate website in support of that commitment."

"I am impressed with the new tools in Creator v2.6," said John Locke, Modeler at The MOVES Institute, Naval Postgraduate School. "The Building Wizard generates an amazing variety of custom, textured structures with surprising ease. The innovative Texture Composer unites the texture creation and mapping processes in a way I'd never imagined, simultaneously enhancing model fidelity and optimization, and modeler productivity. Other tools like Modify UV and the Plus Tools have been nicely redesigned or expanded to accomplish more with fewer mouse clicks."
