SJOLAND & THYSELIUS VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEMS (STVRS) ANNOUNCE EFFORT TO PROVIDE FRACTAL BASED PROCEDURAL GEOMETRY TO MULTIGEN-PARADIGM PRODUCT LINE

Lille, France - April 9, 2002 - At the International Training and Education Conference (ITEC), Sjoland & Thyselius Virtual Reality Systems AB (STVRS) today announced an effort to add fractal-based procedural geometry functionality to Vega Prime and Creator, MultiGen-Paradigm's flagship realtime 3D software solutions.

The relationship between Sjoland & Thyselius Virtual Reality Systems AB and MultiGen-Paradigm would provide visual simulation and training customers with the ability to create complex, non-geospecific, natural features and terrain by the use of procedural geometry, where information is generated only when needed. The use of fractals for both terrain surface and vegetation can add significant amount of detail to a realtime 3D landscape. Features for complete terrain interaction for advanced motion models and special effects, such as helicopter rotor wash affecting the surrounding vegetation or vehicles responding to underlying surface information such as sand or rock, will also be available.

"We are looking forward to leveraging our new relationship to draw on the respective strengths and resources of STVRS and MultiGen-Paradigm. This relationship will allow us to develop new products that reflect the increasingly sophisticated natural feature and terrain requirements of realtime 3D simulation and training applications," said Rune Thyselius, chief financial officer, STVRS. "This partnership illustrates our companies' shared commitment to providing the most advanced simulation solutions to our customers."

"This collaborative relationship with STVRS will allow us to extend and strengthen our support of the visual simulation community by providing our Vega Prime customers with the ability to add increased realism in non geo-specific terrain databases," said Chris Hawkins, vice president of sales and marketing at MultiGen-Paradigm. "By working closely with STVRS, we are taking full advantage of the highly customizable and extensible architecture of Vega Prime to meet the specific needs of our users' applications."
