MultiGen-Paradigm Expands Realtime 3D Solutions

SAN JOSE, CA. – March 9, 2000 – MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. today announced at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose the commencement of the beta program for MultiGen Creator 2.4. MultiGen Creator is the complete interactive realtime 3D polygonal modeling and assembly system designed for realtime visual simulation, game development, and urban simulation. With the introduction of Creator 2.4, MultiGen-Paradigm is broadening the offering of the premier toolset for realtime 3D authoring. MultiGen Creator 2.4 will be released on Windows 98, NT 4.0, 2000 and on SGI IRIX 6.2 or greater.

Multi-texturing is a new benefit in the texture application tools inside MultiGen Creator, relying on the new version 15.7 of the OpenFlight file. With MultiGen Creator 2.4, users will be able to define up to eight textures per face. This represents a major advancement in capability that anticipates increased power of graphics hardware subsystems that further enhance realism in all realtime applications. Presently, SGI IRIX hardware does not display multiple textures, and OpenGL-based PC accelerator cards can display up to two (2) textures simultaneously. A typical application of multi-texturing would include reduction of tiled texture recognition in visual simulation, urban simulation and gaming environments.

"Creator is a great link between the artist and the programmer in terms of the level of detail that can be applied," said Spencer Lindsay, founder of Etribe Studio.

"Game developer customers are probably the most excited about this new feature," said Todd Griffith, Creator product manager, MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc. "This is an occasion when authoring software is ahead of hardware capabilities. We are excited to provide forward-looking new benefits to our customers today, as we continue to develop leading-edge tools for realtime 3D."

MultiGen-Paradigm, Inc., which has its headquarters in San Jose, CA is the leading supplier of realtime 3D software for visual simulation, entertainment, urban simulation, and simulation-based training applications.
