FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MULTIGEN-PARADIGM ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF VEGA 3.6 AND MULTIGEN CREATOR 2.4.1
Customer-driven Upgrades Deliver Predictability and Reliability

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jan. 9, 2001 - MultiGen-Paradigm, the leading developer of real-time 3D solutions, announced the availability of MultiGen Creatorï 2.4.1, a software toolset for creating real-time 3D content for use in visual simulation, interactive games, urban simulation, and other visualization applications, and Vega 3.6 on Microsoft Windows NTñ and SGIï IRIXñ , MultiGen-Paradigm's leading software environment for running real-time visual and audio simulation, virtual reality, and general visualization applications. These product releases are a direct result of MultiGen-Paradigm's commitment to increase the frequency of releases of the most comprehensive and innovative commercial tools for creating and running interactive, high fidelity, real-time 3D applications.

The new features and enhancements made to MultiGen Creator 2.4.1 and Vega 3.6 are direct results of customer feedback collected by MultiGen-Paradigm. MultiGen Creator 2.4.1 contains all improvements made in previous patch releases since version 2.4 was released in September, as well as new product improvements and fixes. Also available as a new option to MultiGen Creator 2.4.1 for Windows is the MultiGen SEDRIS Exporter that takes OpenFlightï files generated from MultiGen Creator and converts them via a user-directed procedural interface to the SEDRIS Transmittal File (.stf) format. As the need for high-resolution, ground-based simulation grows, proper interoperability between SEDRIS and OpenFlight is becoming more important. The MultiGen SEDRIS Exporter is the most recent example of MultiGen-Paradigm's commitment to the SEDRIS user community.

"Our commitment to our users is that we will continue to improve and evolve MultiGen Creator and its options without sacrificing quality," said Todd Griffith, product manager for MultiGen Creator. "The customer response to new features and benefits in the version 2.4 release was extremely valuable in helping us refine this maintenance release. For example, the new feature of retaining node names during copy and paste operations has been made more intelligent by detecting whether a node of the same name already exists, and then adapting predictability and reliability of our software tools are hallmarks of MultiGen-Paradigm and enhancing these qualities for high-production user environments is our top priority. With a solid maintenance foundation of MultiGen Creator 2.4.1, MultiGen-Paradigm is poised to do great things with our modeling tools in 2001."

"Our team tested the beta version of MultiGen Creator 2.4.1 to generate .stf files with the intent of eventually generating a Compact Terrain Database or CTDB," said Benito Graniela, senior software engineer at Science Applications International Corporation. "After working with this latest version, I consider it a very useful and needed tool for the export of OpenFlight data to SEDRIS."

The release of Vega 3.6 provides greater realism as a result of increased overall functionality, improved special effects and light source compatibility, and enhanced sensor simulation capabilities on both the NT and IRIX platforms. Vega 3.6 includes support for a number of partners including Evans & Sutherland's SimFusion sensor API, DI-GUY version 4.2 from Boston Dynamics, Inc., as well as frame-based texture sub-loading on Windows NT. As with MultiGen Creator 2.4.1, Vega 3.6 delivers on MultiGen-Paradigm's commitment to respond to customer needs through more frequent software releases.

"This release of Vega represents an important step forward in MultiGen-Paradigm's efforts to deliver, on a more frequent basis, the most advanced and comprehensive environment available for the creation of simulation and training applications," said Christian Cole, product manager for Vega. "The increased capabilities included in Vega 3.6 and our commitment to continued product improvement will be a significant benefit to our customers and partners.
